Huronia Alarm & Fire Security Inc. and the Midland Cultural Centre celebrate their ongoing community partnership this Fire Safety Month.

Posted On: Friday, October 18, 2024

To maximize their work in the community, the Midland Cultural Centre (MCC) looks to establish partnerships with local businesses and organizations through its Community Partnership Program. One such community partnership goes back to the construction of the MCC in 2011.

Huronia Alarm & Fire Security Inc. and the Midland Cultural Centre celebrate their ongoing community partnership this Fire Safety Month.

Huronia Alarm & Fire Security Inc. (HAFS), the locally owned and operated security and fire safety business, was approached early in the development of the new MCC to provide the products and services needed to ensure staff and patron safety when participating in performances or attending events at the new cultural centre.

“We were there from the start,” said Kevin Leonard, COO at HAFS. “Huronia provided the security cameras, security alarms, and fire alarm system with horns and strobe devices to assist people with reduced hearing. Seeing the MCC come to life and seeing the community embrace it as a social hub and neighbourhood gathering space was exciting.”

Well over a decade later, that community partnership is still going strong.

In celebration of Fire Safety Month, the Midland Cultural Centre (MCC) is proud to highlight our community partnership with Huronia Alarm and Fire Security (HAFS). They have generously provided the MCC with some in-kind donations for security and fire safety, helping to ensure that in the event of an emergency, such as a fire, the relevant emergency services can be alerted, offering enhanced safety and security for all MCC visitors, performers, and staff as well as helping to minimize physical damage to the Centre,” said Daniel Broome, Executive Director of the Midland Cultural Centre.

The partnership and community support extend beyond what may seem like a simple business transaction.  Support for the MCC runs deep with the team at HAFS as well.

It’s about communities supporting their own,” Leonard said.  “The MCC did a food drive last Christmas, and the Y Service Club [which Leonard is a member] helped deliver the parcels of food. Our monitoring supervisor, Paula Desjardins, is also involved in the Huronia Players community theatre group, which uses the MCC. Huronia even held our strategic planning session at the MCC back in 2014! We’re proud to support this community space and the people and groups that use it.”

Broome concluded by saying, “This partnership underscores MCC’s ongoing commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment for the community. With Huronia’s support, the Centre is better equipped to handle emergencies, reinforcing the importance of our commitment and collaboration in ensuring the safety and security of patrons to the MCC.”

Huronia Alarm & Fire Security Inc. (HAFS) is Central Ontario’s leading provider of home and business security and monitoring services, CCTV, fire and safety, lock, key and safe products and services, home theatre, audio and video consultation and entertainment room design, as well as cabling and smart home wiring for today's home automation requirements.

The Midland Cultural Centre (MCC) is a registered charitable organization that serves the local community to promote cultural diversity, support local artists, and nurture the artistic talents of the future generation. As a charitable non-profit, the MCC is committed to enriching the community's cultural landscape by providing diverse programming and events.
